Tē Reo Māori

On Wednesday afternoons, one of our three rotations is a twenty-five minute slot where we learn Tē Reo Māori, our indigenous language. Our focuses during this term are greetings, time, numbers, and weather. It's very exciting to learn a new language, and very beneficial as it is a language indigenous to New Zealand. Two new things I have learnt this term is the Māori translations for the months, and asking your age. E hia ō tau? E tekau ma tahi aku tau (I am eleven).

Can you speak any other languages? Can you speak Maori? If you can speak a language, leave a comment in that language - a phrase, a number, anything!

  1. Hi Adam,

I can speak a bit of mandarin.I will count from 1-10. Yi, er, san, si, wu, liu, qi, ba, jau and shi. I agree with you when you say that learning Te reo is very beneficial language in NZ. I think you should try and learn more.
    Great learning.

To support my learning I ask you to comment as follows:
1. Something positive - Begin with a greeting. Talk about something you like about what I have shared.
2. Thoughtful - A comment that will mean something to me to let me know you read/watched or listened to what I had to say. - use any language.
3. Something helpful - Give me some ideas for next time or ask me a question.
