Holiday Blog!

Hi blog viewers, I'm back after a long period of inactivity, and today's post will be about my weekend in Auckland! As a 12th birthday present, my Dad took me to Auckland! After a 4:30 am start and a quick flight, I wanted to do everything. We had a ferry trip booked in half an hour so we stopped in at a dairy for some energy. The ferry trip around Rangitoto Island was beautiful, and the trip included a hour long guided tour of the island. Back on shore, we then headed to arguably Auckland's (if not New Zealand's) most famous attraction; the Sky Tower. With a staggering 220m above ground observation deck, it's quite an astonishing view! After that, we stopped for groceries and a Mexican dinner before residing at our apartment for a short period of TV before bed.

The second day was even more exciting with surprises to come! We went straight to the Auckland Museum for a special exhibition on Lego monuments - attractions entirely replicated in a collection of plastic toys! These included the Hollywood sign, the NASA space station, and a 3 metre high statue of David. Next was the Art Gallery, possibly a less-known building in the heart of the city. With varied types of art, some a little confusing, like a corrugated iron roof painted black and with a square cut out, some humorous, and some inspiring, like the station where you could build a model house entirely out of cardboard. A few scratch-cards later, we won $10! A few frozen yogurts later, we have dessert! A few beers later (not me) we go to bed!

And the final day, although sad was not boring; from 10 - 4, Rainbow's End was not a letdown what-so-ever. The famous corkscrew roller coaster was thrilling! The Invader, awesome! The Power Surge, amazing! The Stratosphere, terrifying! Auckland is a terrific city and I'm sad to leave, but it was a fabulous time!

Have you ever had a holiday so great that you didn't want to leave? Tell me where you went below!
